In this lecture, Professor Tatar will take us on a historical fantasy journey showing us the social origins and historical evolution of folklore and fairy tales, including the fantasy of Neil Gaiman. Come be enchanted.
Maria Tatar is the John L. Loeb Professor of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University. She chairs the Program in Folklore and Mythology where she teaches courses in German Studies, Folklore, and Children’s Literature. She is the author of numerous annotated books including The Annotated Grimm’s Fairy Tales and The Hard Facts of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales.
