Our all-age annual Poetry Slam on April 3 is fast approaching. If you would like help preparing for the competition, please join us in this poetry workshop with Andrew Green, a three-time Morse Institute Library poetry slam winner.
An additional session of this workshop takes place on March 11.
Bring a notebook for a writing exercise along with 12 copies of a poem you are working on. We will read and discuss it, make suggestions for revision, and practice reading it aloud.
A former English teacher, Andrew Green is an award-winning writer and poet who lives in Natick. He is the Founder of Potato Hill Poetry, an organization devoted to promoting poetry in the schools. For the past twenty-five years he has been conducting writing and poetry workshops for teachers and students in schools throughout the country. His work has appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, New England Review, The New York Times, and Yankee Magazine. He believes that poetry has the power to transform lives and to keep us honest in our daily work.
