Teen Author Talk: Sarah Dessen

Wednesday, June 5 @ 7 pm, Lebowitz Meeting Hall

The Moon and More book coverCome see Sarah Dessen talk about her newest novel, The Moon and More.

This author talk is presented by Morse Institute Library and Wellesley Books. To enter the signing line at this event, you must have purchased a copy of The Moon and More from Wellesley Books.

For more information, call 781-431-1160 or visit their website. Books will also be available at the event itself.

In her eleventh novel, Dessen returns to Colby, the beach town that is the setting for some of her best-loved books, in a story of summer love, self-discovery, striking out to new horizons, and saying goodbye. Filled with memorable characters, humor, and wonderful writing, this is top-notch Sarah Dessen—and that’s saying something!

The Teen Cooking Program was terrific!!

making soft pretzelsThe teens wore cooking aprons, and they mixed and kneaded the dough to make soft pretzels.

While the dough was rising, they made smoothies with different combinations of yogurt, milk, strawberries, raspberries, bananas, blueberries and mango and drank their creations!

There was also time to look over a selection of cookbooks from the library collection.

Next the teens shaped the dough, baked and ate the pretzels!

Delicious!!!

Thanks to everyone who took part in the vacation week programs!

On Tuesday, teens were enjoying the videogames and snacks in the Morse Room.

On Wednesday night, teens and their parents learned a lot about sports nutrition from sports nutritionist and author Nancy Clark. It was an enjoyable and informative presentation, and Nancy also generously donated one of her books for a raffle! Thanks to Nancy, and thanks to those that attended!

On Thursday, we had "book share" time in the Teen Room. Teens completed "review bookmarks" on some of their favorite books. The bookmarks indicate the number of "stars" they gave the book and describe the book in 5 words or phrases. Take a look at some of the books on display -- together with the teen reviewers' bookmarks -- on the long counter outside the teen room (above the "summer reading" shelves).
